2014 Summer Programs

RSC offers three summer programs in additional to summer private lessons.

SUMMER MUSIC

Session I:  July 7 – July 18, 2014
Session II:  July 21 – August 1, 2014

Junior Program:  Grades 2 – 6
Senior Program:  Grades 7 – 12

Summer Music at Rivers is a two-week summer day camp for students of any orchestral instruments, percussion, marimba, piano, or classical guitar. There are two sessions and students are welcome to participate in one or both.

The program explores every facet of music-making, from solo and ensemble performance to theory, composition, and improvisation. Emphasis is placed on community – all students are part of a chamber ensemble and chorus.

Students in both Senior and Junior programs can take part in a variety of Rivers Day Camp activities, including archery, soccer, softball, kickball, tennis, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and whiffleball.

Audition Requirements & Dates
Audition requirements: students should prepare 1 or 2 pieces that best demonstrate their abilities. No scales or etudes are required. Returning students may submit a video in lieu of a live audition.

Auditions for Summer Music will be offered on the following days/times:

• April 5, 2-6pm
• April 17, 6:15-7:15pm
• April 27, 3-6pm
• May 10, 3-6pm
• May 15, 6:15-7:15pm
• June 1, 3-6pm

Once RSC receives your application and deposit we will email you to set-up an audition.

Summer Jazz at Rivers is an intensive two-week day program focusing on daily performances in master classes, combos, and jam sessions.  There are two sessions and students are welcome to participate in one or both.

In addition to performance opportunities, students take private lessons and participate in a variety of classes and electives such as Piano for Non-pianists, Jazz Composition, African Percussion Class, Recording Engineer Lab, Rhythm Section Lab, Finale Musical Notation Software Lab, and Jam Session.

Summer Orchestra at Rivers is a week-long morning program for talented young string players from the Greater Boston and MetroWest communities. Each day includes rehearsals, sectionals, and a break with refreshments.
