Summer Music 2017
Summer Music at Rivers is a two-week summer program for students entering grades 3-12; however, younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Students of any wind, string, or brass instruments, or piano are welcome. Each session concludes with performances of the chamber groups and large ensembles.

Audition Requirements
Informal auditions are held in order to accept and place students in appropriate level (Junior or Senior), classes, and ensembles. Students should prepare 1 or 2 pieces that best demonstrate his/her abilities. No scales or etudes are required though students will be asked to sight-read a short piece. In lieu of an audition, International or returning students may submit a video to Laura Blustein.

Chamber Music & Large Ensembles
Each student is placed in a chamber ensemble of 2-5 players of similar ability and rehearse daily with a chamber coach. In the afternoon students participate in either the Senior or Junior String Orchestra, Summer Wind Ensemble, or Piano Seminar.

Private Instruction
Students receive 4 private lessons per session with an RSC faculty member. Younger students may receive additional structured practice time with a counselor.

Music Theory & Performance Class
In Music Theory Class students explore topics in theory and harmony. Collaboratively, students compose a piece which they perform at the end of the session. The Performance Class is a “masterclass-style” format in which students perform solo and ensemble repertoire for their peers and teachers. Both classes are divided into junior and senior levels.

Lunch & Recreation
Students can take part in a variety of Rivers Day Camp activities, including archery, soccer, softball, kickball, frisbee, volleyball, whiffleball, and art activities. Daily lunch is also provided.

Optional Bus Transportation
Bus transportation is available for an additional $100 per session from the following towns: Sudbury, Wayland, Needham, Wellesley, Newton, Waltham, Weston, and Natick. View the bus schedule.

Early Drop-Off and/or Late Afternoon Pick-Up
We also offer early morning drop-off, which runs from 8:00-9:00 am ($150 per session), and late afternoon pick-up, which runs from 3:30-5:00 pm ($200 per session). This service offers supervised activities. You may choose the morning, the afternoon, or both.
