Session I: June 20-July 1, 2011
Session II: July 5-July 15, 2011
3:00-7:00 pm ages 12-18
Each 2-week session consists of:
4 1-hour private lessons
Lessons include all aspects of jazz improvisation skills.
Daily ensemble rehearsal
Chose one ensemble from the following: jazz combo, jazz strings ensemble, Latin-Afro Cuban jazz ensemble, jazz guitar ensemble or creative modern jazz ensemble.
4 Techniques of Improvisation classes
Students study jazz language including basic chord types and scales, harmony, rhythmic concepts and improvisation techniques.
4 Color/Ear Training classes
Students learn how to hear the “colors of functions” of notes based on the Color Concept invented by Charles Banacos.
2 Electives
Choose from the following: Jazz Composition, Bass Lab, Drum Lab, Rhythm Section Lab, Piano for Non-Pianists Lab, Finale Lab and Recording and Engineering Class.
